More of 760,000 voters went to the polls this Sunday (29), in the country’s 10 provinces, to elect the new president, after the dismissal of José Mário Vaz and a long period of political instability.
Running for president of Guinea Bissau are Domingos Simões Pereira, from PAIGC and Umaro Sissoco Embalo, from MADEM G15.
As a result of the results of the first round, Umaro Embaló, former Prime Minister of the country, leaves at a disadvantage, but despite the results and according to the TSF, he is confident of his victory in this election.

In turn, the candidate of PAIGC, the largest party in the country, Domingos Pereira, who received 40.13 percent of the votes in the first round, is now considered the favorite to assume the country’s presidency.
The results of the elections should be known on the first day of January 2020.
