Elections 2024: How to vote in a special box with the Electronic Ballot Box?

In the context of elections, it is essential to ensure that all citizens have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote, even those who are outside their electoral district.

To facilitate this, special boxes are installed where voters can vote, following a carefully structured procedure to guarantee the transparency and security of the process.

In these special polling stations, a limit of up to one thousand voters is established, and a series of rigorous steps are implemented to protect the integrity of the vote, and also ensure that each citizen participates in the electoral process effectively and safely.

Steps to vote in electronic ballot boxes

1. The president of the polling station board will ask the voter to hand over their Credential and show their right thumb.

2. The computer equipment operator will scan the Credential and it will indicate whether or not the voter can vote in that box and for which elections.

If the system indicates that you cannot vote in the special box, the official shows you the computer screen so you can see the reason why you cannot do so.

3. If the system indicates that you can vote in a special box, you will be given a pink card, indicating the positions for which you can vote.

4. The voter goes to the electronic ballot box and inserts the voting card into the slot located at the top of the voting module.

5. The electronic ballot for the first position for which you have the right to vote appears on the screen. To see which one it is, check the top part of the screen on the left side.

6. Press the emblem of the party or candidate of your choice and press Vote. If you choose the unregistered candidate option, type the name of the person you want to vote for when the keyboard appears on the ballot box.

7. Press Confirm if you are sure of your choice, or Return to choose another option.

8. When the voter confirms their vote for the first type of election, the electronic ballot box will print a voting token and show a different ballot for each type of election for which they can vote.

The witness must be cut and stored so that no one else can see it.

9. When returning the card, the polling station official marks the voting credential in the box for federal elections and, where appropriate, the one that says local and extraordinary elections. Another official puts indelible liquid on the voter’s right thumb.

10. They give you back your voting card.
