This Thursday, June 13, the National Aqueduct and Sewer Administration (ANDA) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Transparency and Integrity Project, executed by Counterpart International, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
This event aimed to implement actions that promote transparency, ethics and public integrity. This is a project with a duration of five years (2023-2028).
Among the initiatives to be carried out as part of the memorandum is the strengthening of technical and institutional capacities, support in petition, complaint and claim processes.
«When an institution practices and promotes transparency, trust is activated and opportunities for cooperation are expanded. Transparency has allowed ANDA, as the country’s main drinking water and sanitation operator, to build solid relationships with key actors, strategic partners and friendly countries that contribute to our titanic work of advancing drinking water and sanitation issues,” commented the president. by ANDA, Rubén Alemán.
Likewise, part of the document is the implementation of an internal anti-bribery management system, the training of ANDA public officials and employees in the areas of ethical risks, integrity, anti-bribery and anti-corruption.
The acting mission director of USAID El Salvador Salvador, Matthew Rees, recognized the work and leadership of ANDA and reaffirmed USAID’s support for this and other joint projects.
«We hope to contribute to improving its management through technology to better monitor its activities. We hope to promote a culture of comprehensiveness with the awareness and training of the institution’s staff. Fighting against is not a short path, but requires a lot of will, leadership and perseverance. Aware of this, we share that commitment and support the objectives proposed in the agreement we signed today,” said Rees.
