El Dorado airport operation will have delays: this is the reason

The Civil Aeronautics (Aerocivil) announced that during the coming weeks scheduled calibration work will be carried out on the slopes of the El Dorado International Airport, in Bogotá. The objective of these actions is to guarantee precise and safe air navigation, in accordance with the highest international standards.

As explained by the entity, these works are essential to preserve operational safety and avoid setbacks during the end of year season, when increases the flow of passengers in the country’s main air terminal.

The work will involve the temporary closure of one of the runways, while the other will remain operational to maintain air connectivity. Aerocivil reported that the closures will be made at the following times:

  • Sunday, October 19: North Runway (14L) closed and South Runway (14R) operational, between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 26: North Runway (14L) closed and South Runway (14R) operational, between 6 am and 10 am
  • Sunday, November 2: South Runway (14R) closed and North Runway (14L) operational, between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 9: South Runway (14R) closed and North Runway (14L) operational, between 6 am and 10 am

Aerocivil indicated that the dates were selected after a technical analysis to minimize the impact on air operationschoosing time slots with less traffic.

The aeronautical authority apologized for any possible inconvenience and recommended that passengers check the status of their flights directly with the airlines in advance. “These actions are fundamental to preserve the safety and efficiency of the air service.””, emphasized the entity.
