Since the beginning of the December holidays, in the department of Cesar a total of eight people, including four minors, have been injured by the handling of gunpowder, despite the repeated recommendations that the authorities of each territory have brought to each territory. health and public force.

Two of the cases were recorded in the municipality of Agustín Codazzi, while in Astrea, La Paz, La Gloria, Chiriguaná, Aguachica and Valledupar, each has contributed one injury to the statistics. Four involve minors between 6 and 17 years old; The rest are people between 18 and 47 years old, all male, with the handling of totes and flyers being the causes of the injuries.

This report corresponds to the date between December 1 and 10, according to the National Institute of Health and the Departmental Health Secretariat of Cesar.

Rosa María Cerchar, Public Health coordinator of the Departmental Health Secretariat, reported that 65% of the injuries were on the hands and face.

The Ministry of Health is coordinating with the Children and Adolescents Police, ICBF and CRUE, raising awareness in the different municipalities with the support of the local Health Secretariats.

The recommendations are to prevent minors from handling gunpowder in any type of presentation, telling the people who sell it not to sell it to minors and people in a state of intoxication. Likewise, it is recommended to be aware of pets because they are sensitive to strong explosions.
