Eiduka started with number 27, one minute and ten seconds after Swedish athlete Linna Svan, who had won the freestyle sprint competition the day before.

After the 5.7 kilometer mark the Latvian athlete had already risen to 23rd place, but after less than six kilometers she was in 19th place, 22 seconds from the top. After the 18.6 kilometer mark, Eiduka had slipped to 21st place, but she was 15.1 seconds behind the leader, Norway’s Astrid Eire Slinna.

Finland’s Kerta Niskanen won the race, finishing in 12 minutes and 0.7 seconds, while American Rosie Brennan placed second, losing just 0.8 seconds to the winner. The top three was completed by another American athlete, Jessie Diggins, 8.7 seconds behind the Finn.

Eiduka finished after one hour, 12 minutes and 25.9 seconds and lost to Niskanen by 25.2 seconds.

On Friday Eiduka won his career-high ranking in this discipline – tenth – in the freestyle sprint in Toblah, but on Saturday he finished 19th in the ten-kilometer classic-style split start. On Monday, however, she placed 11th in the pursuit, obtaining the 13th result over the distance, and on Wednesday, in the freestyle sprint, she placed 33rd.

On 6 and 7 January, in Valdifjemme, the cross-country skiers will battle respectively over the distance with a common start of 15 kilometers in classic style and ten kilometers in free style.

In the second half of January, the stages of the World Cup will be held on the Oberhof track in Germany and in the Goms area of ​​Switzerland, and in February the competition will take place in North America – in the city of Kenmore, Canada, and the track of Minneapolis in the USA. The athletes will then return to Europe, completing stages in Lahti (Finland), Oslo and Drammen (Norway), as well as Fålun (Sweden) in March.

Eiduka’s previous season was the best for a World Cup athlete, where she won the U-23 competition. Last January, in the “Tour de Ski” competition series in Oberstdorf, she won fifth place in the 20-kilometer freestyle pursuit, which is the highest place in the history of Latvian skiing at the World Cup stage.
