It has already been reported that in qualifying Eiduka completed the 1.4 kilometer course in three minutes and 2.78 seconds and finished in 26th place, losing by 11.30 seconds to the holder of the best result, Swede Jonna Sundling .

American Jessica Diggins finished second in qualifying, 2.98 seconds behind Sundling, while Swedish cross-country skier Lynn Swann finished 3.53 seconds behind her compatriot to round out the top three.

In her quarterfinals, Eiduka, finishing in two minutes and 57.44 seconds, came third and lost to Svana, the winner of the respective quarterfinals, by 1.01 seconds.

The winners of the top two places in each ski category and two other “lucky losers” with the fastest results, including Eiduka, made it to the semi-finals.

On Sunday the athletes will run ten kilometers in classic style with a separate start, while on Monday – the first day of 2024 – they will compete in the 20 kilometer freestyle pursuit.

On 3 and 4 January in Davos the sprint competitions in free style and the pursuit in the classic technique will take place, while on 6 and 7 January in Valdifjemme the cross-country skiers will compete over distances with a common start of 15 kilometers in the classic technique and ten kilometers . in freestyle.

In the second half of January, the stages of the World Cup will be held on the Oberhof track in Germany and in the Goms area of ​​Switzerland, and in February the competition will take place in North America – in the city of Kenmore, Canada, and the track of Minneapolis in the USA. The athletes will then return to Europe, completing stages in Lahti (Finland), Oslo and Drammen (Norway), as well as Fålun (Sweden) in March.

Eiduka’s previous season was the best for a World Cup athlete, where she won the U-23 competition. In January, at the “Tour de Ski” competition series in Oberstdorf, she won fifth place in the 20-kilometer freestyle pursuit, which is the highest position in the history of Latvian skiing in the World Cup.
