In one widely shared clip, the billboard, located on Giza’s busy King Faisal Road, features various images of Sisi, including memes, accompanied by text criticizing the president.
According to a 30-second video seen by MEE, there are at least four images criticising Sisi on the billboard, including one of him standing in front of the US and Israeli flags.
One image shows Sisi covered in blood and wearing a military uniform with the Quranic verse, “Does he think no one has power over him?”
Another image reads, “What, don’t you know I’m a thief?”
The video then spread to a busy highway, where passers-by were seen taking photos and videos of the rare public criticism.
Sisi, a former military chief, came to power in 2013 after staging a coup against Egypt’s first democratically elected president, Mohamed Morsi.
In the months after the coup, Sisi oversaw what human rights groups described as possible crimes against humanity, as thousands of pro-Morsi protesters were shot dead or detained in the worst episode of police brutality in the country’s modern history.
