News from Angola – Editora Kacimbo will launch this Saturday (16) the literary book entitled “It Happened in Luanda”, in the cultural space of the Kiela bookstore in Luanda.
Starting at 5pm, the launch marks the culmination of the “Kacimbo a Kontar” project and materializes the commitment and dedication of the participants in the creative writing workshop, held in 2022 with the author Ondjaki.
According to the statement that Notícias de Angola had access to today, the work is supported by the European Union, Camões IP and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, with collaborative management by the French Alliance of Luanda and the EUNIC cluster.
To this end, the document explains that the project took place between January and March 2022, focusing on creative writing workshops, and resulted in this anthology of short stories.
The note highlights, on the other hand, that after a selection process, extensive revisions and fine-tuning, these eight stories emerged as a testimony to part of Luanda’s literary scene.
During the workshop, in order to enhance their skills and encourage literary creativity, the authors also had the opportunity to interact with writers Afonso Cruz and Pedro Sena Lino.
The work brings together the talent of eight authors (Benedito Tjyakala, David Nahenda, Delfina Bastos, Fabio Kintosh, Muzeri Kizenza, Rosario Kutchy, Tchenguita, Yermarília Tomás.) who wrote stories set in or inspired by Luanda.
The publication of “It Happened in Luanda” is a testimony to the success of collaborative initiatives that promote new literary talents.
