The magistrate, reports the newspaper ‘Expreso’, was the victim of an ambush while he was driving his car in the northern area of the city of Guayaquil on his way to a hearing. According to what can be seen from the first photos taken at the scene of the attack, the hitmen would have come alongside the magistrate’s car and fired numerous shots at the driver’s window.

This is a prosecutor known for having conducted several investigations against the main criminal groups operating in the city which in recent years has become the main hub for cocaine trafficking towards Europe. Suarez, who was also in charge of the investigation into the attack on the TV channel TC last week, had already received several threats but had not yet been assigned an escort.
