Egger: Instead of lifting Europe out of the competitive crisis, companies are being scourged with even more bureaucracy
Vienna (OTS) – “While Austria is taking the path of reason and has recognized that Europe needs more competitiveness instead of less, a supply chain law is now being passed that will overwhelm companies with bureaucracy and endanger prosperity and jobs. As a business association, we support the EU’s intention to protect human rights and the environment along the value chain, but it cannot be in the interest of the European Union to pass on the responsibility of states to companies and burden them with excessive liability risks and auditing obligations. Although some successes have been achieved through the improvements, the supply chain law further limits the competitiveness of Austria and Europe due to the indirect responsibility that small and medium-sized businesses continue to bear. What is now needed is a prudent implementation at the national level in order not to burden our domestic companies with additional bureaucracy,” said WB Secretary General Abg.z.NR. Kurt Egger.
