It has been reported that many people eat eggs for breakfast. Its health benefits are controversial – some experts believe that the cholesterol in eggs is bad for the heart. Others argue that this fact needs to be confirmed by more research. Hazelnuts, on the other hand, have been proven to lower blood cholesterol levels.
German scientists have tried to find out whether eating nuts regularly for breakfast is beneficial to the body. For this, they conducted an experiment with the participation of volunteers. Subjects from the first group had to replace meat with whole grains or cereals, eggs with nuts, and use olive oil instead of butter. Volunteers from the first group followed a normal diet.
At the end of the experiment, it was found that replacing 50 grams of meat with 30 grams of whole grains was associated with a 36% reduction in the risk of cardiovascular disease. Eating olive oil instead of butter reduced their risk by 4%. At the same time, giving up eggs in favor of nuts potentially reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases by 17% and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 18%.
The scientists noted that they are not urging people to completely remove eggs from their diet. Researchers emphasized the importance of a balanced diet for health. (Caucasusinfo)
