According to American longevity researcher Dan Buettner, eating black beans and walnuts every day can prolong life by reducing the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
Publika.az “Daily Mail” reported on this.
Buettner explained that black beans and walnuts are part of the daily diet of so-called “blue zone” residents. Several small regions of the world live at rates well above the centennial average.
Nuts and black beans are rich in fiber, which helps reduce inflammation in the intestines and the body as a whole. Persistent, low-intensity inflammation is a risk factor for many diseases, including cancer. These foods are also rich in protein, which helps reduce hunger and prevent overeating. This leads to obesity and overweight, increases the risk of developing diabetes.
The researcher noted that walnuts are rich in high content of linoleic acid and Omega-3 fatty acids, among others, which reduce the possibility of developing cardiovascular diseases.
Buettner also cited the results of a 2004 study that surveyed large numbers of older adults living in the blue zones of Japan, Sweden and Greece. The results showed that those who consumed foods containing beans lived longer than others. Moreover, every 20 grams of beans consumed daily leads to a 7% reduction in the risk of premature death.
