On the evening of July 19, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the tropical depression in the East Sea maintained its strongest winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 9. At 7:00 p.m., the center was in the middle of the East Sea, moving west-northwest at a speed of 5-10 km/h.

Tonight and tomorrow, the above pattern will maintain its direction but increase its speed to 15km/h, with the possibility of strengthening into a storm. On the evening of July 20, the storm center will be in the northern part of the East Sea with the strongest winds at level 8, gusting to level 10.

After that time, the storm changed direction to the northwest, reducing speed to 10km/h.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecasting Department (National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting), said that the tropical depression is in the early stages of formation and is likely to change its path and intensity. Therefore, experts are closely monitoring this form.

“The development of the tropical depression is still complicated. In the immediate future, we need to pay attention to the impact of strong winds, big waves, heavy rain and thunderstorms at sea,” said Mr. Huong.

On land, the Central Highlands and the South are affected by the strong southwest monsoon. These two regions are forecast to continue to have moderate to heavy rain over a wide area, concentrated from the night of July 19 to July 21. Rainfall is generally 40-100mm, with some places over 150mm/period.
