Early parliamentary elections are held in Spain

About 37 million citizens have the right to vote, of whom about 2 million live abroad. Order during elections is ensured by 92 thousand law enforcement officers. More than 10 parties and coalitions are registered to participate in the upcoming elections, transmits Euronews.com.

The main contenders for victory are the ruling socialists led by Pedro Sanchez. During the election campaign, they stated the need to conduct a dialogue with regional authorities. The opposition accused the head of the cabinet of “flirting” with the Catalans.

The main and traditional rival of the socialists is the People’s Party. Her first number is Pablo Casado. Conservatives propose cutting taxes and recalculating pensions, and also promise (if they win) to pay more attention to poor areas of Spain. The Podemos party (its leader Pablo Iglesias) is going to these elections together with two political forces – the United Left and the environmental party Equo. Podemos is a likely coalition partner for the socialists if the latter wins.

It is reported that Albert Rivera’s centrist Citizens party and the far-right Vox party may enter the parliament of the Iberian kingdom; which is headed by Santiago Abascal.
