Vienna (OTS) The e-mobility promotion of the Climate Protection Ministry and the automobile importers as well as the two-wheeler importers will continue seamlessly in 2024. From February 21st, applications can be submitted at umweltfoerderung.at be provided. The purchase of electric cars for private individuals is supported with up to 5,000 euros. Private charging infrastructure is funded with up to 600 euros for wall boxes or charging cables and with up to 1,800 euros for shared facilities in apartment buildings. Publicly accessible charging infrastructure is funded with up to 30,000 euros. The purchase of an electric motorcycle is funded with up to 2,300 euros. The funding campaign is part of the Climate and Energy Fund’s 2024 annual program.

A total of 114.5 million euros will be made available for e-mobility funding this year. The numbers of new car registrations last year show the great success of the funding program: the record year 2023 recorded a share of 19.9 percent of purely electric cars. For the first time, more electric cars were registered than diesel-powered cars.

Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler: “The future on the road is electric. We are therefore continuing our successful e-mobility promotion again this year. With it we support the switch to emission-free cars and thus invest in clean and climate-friendly mobility. This is how we bring more climate protection to our streets.”

ÖVP transport spokesman and member of the National Council Andreas Ottenschläger: “We continue to need to promote electromobility so that people and companies are supported in the transformation towards more climate- and environmentally friendly mobility. In addition to the existing massive tax incentives, start-up funding will also be needed in the future so that this form of technology becomes more affordable. In addition to the expansion of public transport, individual mobility is an important concern for us. We particularly want to pick up those who commute to their place of work or training and make an important contribution to the business location.”

Spokesman for the Austrian automobile manufacturers and importers Günther Kerle: “We welcome the fact that in 2024 we have succeeded in continuing to promote the purchase of electric mobility together with the Ministry of Climate Protection. Especially at a time when funding is being stopped in other countries due to budgetary restrictions, we believe it is a strong sign that the e-mobility bonus in Austria will continue unchanged from the previous year. This represents a suitable instrument to drive forward decarbonization on Austria’s roads next year.”

In addition, companies are supported with the ENIN and EBIN funding programs to convert their commercial vehicle or bus fleet to emission-free vehicles. In currently underserved areas, the LADIN funding program will provide a boost to the expansion of charging infrastructure in addition to the existing infrastructure funding.
