According to a report from the National Auto Parts Industry Association, Durango was ranked third nationally in growth in the nearshoring model within the automotive components manufacturing sector in 2024, below entities such as Yucatán and Zacatecas.
The Business Coordinating Council (CCE) in Durango considered that this is due to development opportunities, economic infrastructure and skilled labor that are taking place in the State, in addition to the agenda of promotion and attraction of companies that Governor Esteban Villegas and his work team have carried out.
Raúl Montelongo Nevárez, president of the CCE in the state, considered that through the expansion of the investment relocation model in the auto parts manufacturing sector, Durango already appears on the map of attraction for this type of companies that are generating a profile of economic competitiveness.
According to investment monitoring carried out by the INA, in 2023, Durango reported 65 million dollars in the auto parts sector, while for 2024 it has been 78 million dollarsa growth of 18.7 percent, which speaks of the opportunities, certainty and confidence that the State is offering for this type of projects linked to nearshoring.
The top ten of these investments are headed by Yucatán, Zacatecas and Durango, in addition to San Luis Potosí, State of Mexico, Aguascalientes, Tamaulipas, Sonora, Guanajuato and Jalisco, as the entities that between 2023 and 2024, have managed to attract and grow the level of investments in the aforementioned sector.
Montelongo Nevárez highlighted that it is an interesting read, that Durango is making its way into industrial branches that it had not explored with such force in other times, which is why he estimated thatIt is urgent to close ranks around the nearshoring modelwith a united, trained local businessman with all the determination to build alliances within global trade and international investments.
