In order to create job opportunities for people with motor, visual or hearing disabilities, the government of the State of Durango, through the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, signed a labor inclusion agreement with the company Barcel Laguna.
Berenice Morales de Ávila, Secretary of Labor and Social Security, said that this signing of the agreement is an example of the state’s public policies for the people of the Laguna region of Durango who have some kind of disability, in addition to the actions to reduce child labor in the region and the state.
“We have signed a collaboration agreement with the Barcel company because it is an inclusive, committed, socially responsible company that, above all, employs people with disabilities and does not promote child labor,” he said.
He reported that the plant currently has 19 differently-abled people on its staff.
“With this agreement, inclusion will be strengthened so that the labor rights of workers who are already part of the company and those who will be joining are respected,” he stressed.
He said that the instruction is clear in promoting these strategies within all state companies so that all Durango residents have decent employment opportunities.
“The instruction is to extend it to other companies and encourage them to initially comply with the 2% established by law for them to have personnel with some type of disability on their payroll,” he said.
In addition to the Secretary of Labor and Social Security, the Undersecretary and the Director of Attention to Vulnerable Groups of the STyPS were present at the signing of the agreement; on behalf of the Barcel company, the director, Alejandro Pintado, and the assistant manager of personnel of Grupo Bimbo Mexico, Edi Enrique Montoya.
