The President of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, announced the decision to introduce a strict mode of saving public funds in order to direct them to the citizens affected by the flood. “RIA Novosti” informs about it.

“The president also assured that all the victims will be provided with the necessary assistance,” the press service of the head of state said.

According to Tokaev, the most important thing is compensation, and it will be paid. In addition, funds will be allocated to those who have lost their housing or need repairs.

“Whoever wants to move to an apartment, we will buy apartments and give them away. Those houses will be massively built before winter, I have set a task for the government to start the construction in the coming summer months and completely eliminate the consequences of the disaster,” the president’s press service quoted the words of the president during a meeting with the residents of Kostanay region.

Earlier, Tokayev called the floods the biggest in the last 80 years and a state of emergency was declared in a number of regions. According to the latest data of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, since the beginning of March, the number of people evacuated from dangerous flood zones has exceeded 113 thousand, of which almost 40 thousand are children.
