Drummond strengthens economic sectors of Cesar with support for more than 300 families

Within the framework of its Social Investment Plan and through the Focal project, the company Drummond Ltd. delivered tools and supplies to producers of patilla, panocha, artisanal wine and pottery in different municipalities of the department of Cesar. The initiative, which is part of the strategic line of Productive Diversification, seeks to strengthen traditional economic sectors and create new income opportunities for rural families.

The project, which began in August 2024, has benefited more than 300 families grouped in five productive associations, through a comprehensive process that included organizational diagnosis, training, design of action plans and delivery of equipment for the capitalization of their activities.

The beneficiary associations are: Association of Patilleros and Fishermen of El Paso (Asopape), Association of Panocheras of Rincón Hondo (Asopari), Association of Panocheras Families of Rincón Hondo, Association of Palm Wine Producers of La Jagua de Ibirico and the Association of Brickmakers of Chiriguaná.

According to Ever Carrillo Navarro, coordinator of social and environmental responsibility projects at Drummond Ltd., the objective is to “enhance local capabilities and open development paths for rural families in the company’s area of ​​influence.”

The delivery of tools was carried out based on the specific needs of each organization. For example, the patilla producers of El Paso received motor pumps, back pumps and scythes, while the panochera associations of Rincón Hondo were equipped with ovens, trays, mixers, steel tables, freezers, baskets and industrial mixers, among other elements.

“Thank you Drummond for these tools that will strengthen my cultivation, but not only mine, but that of all the members of the association,” said Ana Martínez Ramos, member of Asopape.

“We feel supported not only by the elements they give us, but because they recognize the daily effort we make to keep this beautiful tradition alive,” added Andis Martínez Salas, from the Rincón Hondo Panochera Families Association.
