From its social responsibility, Drummond Ltd., in alliance with the Sergio Arboleda University, certified 60 community leaders and presidents of the Community Action Board (JAC) from the municipalities surrounding its port, railway and mining corridor, in the diploma in ‘Management Strategic with emphasis on Community Pedagogy’.
Thus, leaders from Ciénaga, Zona Bananera, Fundación, Aracataca, Algarrobo in Magdalena; and Agustín Codazzi, Becerril, La Jagua de Ibirico, El Paso, Bosconia, El Copey in Cesar, participated in this initiative that sought for participants to acquire new knowledge through collective learning, the development of communication and leadership skills to facilitate tools for social and cultural transformation.
“It is a pleasure for Drummond to be able to create in them those capabilities that allow them to be more useful and serve each of the communities that are within our area of influence and, in this way, generate added value in the territory.” said María José Caballero, social responsibility coordinator at Drummond Ltd.
The members of the diploma course showed their gratitude for the knowledge provided and received their diploma at the end of the course. As Marcos Montoya, president of the board of the Ciudad Jardín neighborhood, of the Fundación, stated: “From day one, of the first class, all the topics of conversation we handled were very important, very striking for us to continue moving our communities forward. We focus on everything, on acquiring learning to transmit it to each and every member of the community action board.”
Some of the topics developed in the diploma were: pedagogy and didactic principles for community training, strategies for the development of learning in community training, evaluation, activities and basic perspectives for community training.
For her part, during the delivery of the certificates at Cesar, Angie Brocher, beneficiary community leader of the Cesar department, expressed: “I am very grateful because this diploma gives me great knowledge to be able to work in local, rural and urban communities.” .
This Drummond initiative, in addition to aiming at institutional and community strengthening, promotes learning opportunities for social transformation from Sustainable Development Goal number 4 (Quality education).
