The National Civil Police (PNC) reported that March 21 ended with zero homicides throughout Salvadoran territory.

According to data released by the president-elect, Nayib Bukele, the country once again stands out for its historic security results that continue to position it as the safest nation in the Western Hemisphere.

It is worth mentioning that the German global platform Statista highlighted El Salvador among 22 nations for how it closed 2023, with a homicide rate of 2.4 per 100,000 inhabitants.

The PNC has detailed that after almost five years of the president’s administration, 574 days have been reported in which no homicides have been recorded in the country, thanks to the Territorial Control Plan (PCT), launched on June 20, 2019. , and to the emergency regime that was approved by the Legislative Assembly.

These security strategies, in their first phase, showed good results by reducing the average number of homicides per day. Last year it was 0.4 every day.
