On the way home from work, the man stopped by an acquaintance 500m away from home to drink 4 cans of beer. As soon as he drove home, he was tested for alcohol by traffic police and fined 7 million VND.
On the evening of May 26, the Traffic and Order Police Team of District 11, Ho Chi Minh City established a working group to check alcohol levels in the area.
During the control patrol, the working group saw Mr. LTB (born 1974) driving a motorbike showing signs of being unconscious on Doi Cung Street, District 11, so they stopped the vehicle to check.
Mr. B.’s alcohol concentration is 0.537 mg/liter of breath. Afterwards, Mr. B. was fined 7 million VND by the working group.
“I work at a printing factory. Today, when I got home from work, I stopped by an acquaintance 500m away from home to drink 4 cans of beer. I know the law’s regulations on alcohol concentration, but I subjectively drove home because it was close to home… I hope you guys I sympathize and forgive the mistake,” Mr. B. told the traffic police.
Previously, the working group discovered and made a record of punishment for driver LNT (50 years old), with a violation of alcohol concentration of 0.802mg/mg/liter of breath.
Mr. T. said that in the evening he drank 2 cans of beer at an acquaintance’s house on Khuong Viet Street, Tan Phu District, then drove his motorbike home about 800m away.
As soon as I arrived at alley 341 Khuong Viet, Ward 5, District 11, I was checked by traffic police.
For the above violation, Mr. T. was fined 7 million VND, had his driver’s license revoked for 23 months, and had his vehicle impounded for 7 days.
Mr. T. said he would abandon the vehicle because he had no money to pay the fine.
Mr. T. was tested for alcohol by traffic police.
“I was drinking when my wife called. I know the alcohol law, but I’m afraid of being checked by traffic police, so I drive in the alley and don’t dare go out on the main road. I didn’t expect them to go all the way to alley 341 Khuong Viet, stop the car and arrest me. I left the car behind and walked, but now it’s too late to regret,” Mr. T. told the reporter.
During the night, a number of other drivers who violated alcohol levels were also inspected and fined by the working group.
Recently, units under the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police have increased their focus on alcohol concentration testing. The checks are carried out on roads where traffic accidents often occur, and areas with many restaurants and eateries that serve alcohol.
Thereby, it aims to propagate and raise people’s awareness of obeying traffic laws, contributing to preventing traffic accidents in the city.
