Our National Women’s Volleyball Team, competing in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, faced the Netherlands in their first match. The Sultans of the Net defeated their opponent 3-2 in the match they fell behind 2-0 and managed to start the Olympics with a victory. While the crescent-stars, who will face the Dominican Republic in their second match, are completing their preparations for the match, a doping shock is being experienced in the Dominican Republic before the match to be played on Thursday, August 1st.
DOPING TEST WAS POSITIVE, DISQUALIFIED
Middle blocker Lisvel Eve, who was on the Dominican Republic Women’s National Volleyball Team’s Paris 2024 roster, was disqualified from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after her doping test came back positive. Geraldine Gonzalez, who was on the roster as a reserve player, took Lisvel Eve’s place. Eve’s doping was detected 1 day before the Olympics and she was banned from the tournament.
HE WILL RECEIVE A 4-YEAR BAN
Lisvel Eve will most likely be banned from volleyball for 4 years due to doping. Eve made a statement on the subject, saying, “This is an extremely sad situation, I am very bad and disappointed in myself, I missed it because I did not research it before, the drug I use to control fluid retention (furosemide) was caught in the doping test at the last VNL.”
