Dong Nai proposed to soon expand Ho Chi Minh City Expressway

The People’s Committee of Dong Nai province hopes that the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh expressway will soon expand to 8 lanes to facilitate traffic connection when Long Thanh airport comes into operation in 2026.

On the afternoon of March 5, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai and the National Assembly supervision delegation had a working session with leaders of Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee on the implementation of key projects in the locality.

On the same morning, the delegation conducted a field survey and checked progress at the Long Thanh International Airport Project and the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway project.

At the meeting, Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Acting Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, had recommendations sent to the supervision team to overcome difficulties that the locality is facing.

Mr. Duc said that according to the 2026 plan, Long Thanh International Airport will operate. However, currently the traffic routes connecting Long Thanh airport with Ho Chi Minh City are a big concern.

Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh expressway has 4 lanes that are often congested. The two expressways Long Thanh – Ben Luc and Bien Hoa – Vung Tau are behind schedule.

“Dong Nai hopes that the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and the supervision team will soon advise and propose that the Ministry of Transport and the Government soon approve the plan to expand the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh expressway to 8 or 10 lanes. This expressway has been approved. Free up to 8 lanes, so construction will be very convenient and fast,” Mr. Duc suggested.

In addition, the People’s Committee of Dong Nai province also wants to soon build an elevated railway connecting Thu Thiem – Long Thanh so that Long Thanh airport has a synchronous traffic connection from air, road and railway.

Also at the meeting, Mr. Vo Tan Duc said that the Provincial People’s Committee has made a commitment to the Prime Minister that from now until June 30, it will complete the compensation and site clearance of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway through the area. Dong Nai.

At the construction site of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Nai province, Quan Minh Cuong, proposed to the National Assembly Working Group to consider and approve the proposal of the Provincial People’s Committee on The use of fill soil from the Long Thanh Airport project to serve the construction of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway project. At the same time, allow the locality to arrange resettlement for households of the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway project to the Loc An – Binh Son resettlement area.
