Dolap Publishes Sustainability Report in Second Hand Shopping

Second-hand shopping site Dolap announced that it has published its Sustainability Impact Report. According to the report published by the platform, where many products in the categories of home and living, electronics, women, men, babies and children are sold second-hand, more than 15 million products meet with re-users every year in Turkey. According to these results, 50 million cubic meters of water, a total of over 10 thousand tons of metal, plastic and textiles were saved, while the prevented greenhouse gas emissions are equivalent to 204 thousand tons of carbon dioxide.

Dolap has published its Sustainability Impact Report. The report, which examines the environmental and social impacts of cyclical consumption habits, includes data on the second-hand market in Turkey. The report includes positive data in various areas such as Dolap’s greenhouse gas emissions, water savings and economic benefits.

SAVINGS ON CARBON FOOTPRINT AS MUCH AS 28 THOUSAND WORLD TOURS

According to the company statement; Dolap recycles more than 15 million products every year. The products finding new life in another consumer helps prevent greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 204 thousand tons of carbon dioxide. This amount is equivalent to 3 million flights from Edirne to Kars or 28 thousand times around the world by car.

ENOUGH WATER SAVING TO FILL 20 THOUSAND OLYMPIC POOLS

Preventing the production of new products not only reduces the carbon footprint but also contributes to the less consumption of limited resources such as water. Sales made through the fridge save 50 million cubic meters of water per year by including existing products in the circular economy instead of new ones. This figure, which is enough water to fill 20,000 Olympic pools, is considered a very important success in terms of sustainable water management.

10 THOUSAND TONS OF RESOURCE CONTRIBUTION

Metal, plastic and textile raw materials constitute the basic components of the products sold through Dolap. Preference for second-hand consumption, 10000 tons of metal, 2716 tons of plastic and 7000 tons of textile, in total 10 thousand tons of raw materials every year become usable resources for other needs of Turkey.?In addition, sales made on the platform constitute the main source of income for over 254 thousand women.
