This Sunday, August 18 at 8:30 p.m., the successful documentary “Ensamble Patagonia – Arquitecturas chilotas fundacionales de Magallanes (1890 – 1950)”, produced by Matoco Films and financed by the National Fund for Cultural Development and the Arts, Fondart Regional de Magallanes, will premiere on television on UMAG TV (channels 33, 65 and 68 TV Red Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales and Puerto Williams, respectively, as well as www.umagtv.cl).

This is the result of the research work of architect Valentina Cárdenas Espinoza and anthropologist Silvana Arteche Sepúlveda under the audiovisual production of director and editor Nicolás Fernández Salinas.

The feature film tells, through testimonies, the Chilote heritage in the architecture of an emerging Patagonia at the end of the 19th century, whose houses were built by great Chilote carpenters, who today are remembered on the big screen, but forgotten in the official history books.

Using wood as raw material, ingenuity as the only knowledge, and the hope of a better life, numerous families from Chiloé settled in this territory to build, board by board, the Magallanes that we know today.

The broadcast will take place simultaneously with the signal from the large island of Chiloé, “Castro TV” (7:30 p.m.).
