Publika.az reports that endocrinologist and nutritionist Oksana Mikhaleva spoke about this in an interview with “Gazeta.Ru”.

The doctor said that the body needs extra energy to fight the infection. But not all foods are suitable for this purpose. Mikhaleva advised to give up fast food, snacks, fried and fatty foods, and carbonated drinks until recovery.

According to him, during a cold, red meat, baked goods and confectionery should also be removed from the diet. Fresh fruits and vegetables should be taken with caution as they can cause stomach upset and discomfort.

Mikhaleva emphasized that simple and easy-to-digest foods – broth, soup, porridge and well-cooked meat – are more appropriate during the illness.

He also noted that a person should not force himself to eat. If there is no appetite, it is recommended to drink more fruit drinks, compotes and warm milk with honey. According to the doctor, these drinks help to quickly remove toxins from the body, prevent thirst and increase energy.
