In this regard, Dr. Rami Salah El-Din, consultant in therapeutic nutrition, said that eggs are not prohibited for diabetics, stressing that they do not increase blood sugar as some think.
Rami added that eggs contain a high percentage of protein, explaining that they not only help build and strengthen muscles, but also help control blood sugar levels in diabetics.
There’s another reason that disproves rumors of high blood sugar when eating eggs, which is that they are “almost devoid of carbohydrates,” making their glycemic index very low, according to the American Diabetes Association.

The American Diabetes Association recommends including hard-boiled eggs in breakfast, because eating an egg on an empty stomach plays an important role in regulating blood glucose levels throughout the day.
The clinical nutrition consultant urged diabetics to eat bananas in moderation, because excessive amounts cause an increase in harmful cholesterol in the blood, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.

He concluded his speech by underlining that moderation in the consumption of eggs guarantees the diabetic patient surprising benefits, including:
– Strengthen the immune system, because it contains minerals and vitamins that improve the body’s ability to fight bacteria and viruses, such as zinc, vitamin B6 and vitamin A.
– Weight loss, thanks to its low calorie content, in addition to the ability of its good protein content to suppress the appetite, keeping the stomach full for long hours.
– Strengthen bones, as it is rich in calcium and vitamin D.
– Promote eye health, because the vitamin A available in it improves vision and reduces the risk of age-related macular degeneration diseases, such as glaucoma and cataracts.
