Djarot Says PDIP Will Announce Gubernatorial Candidates for Jakarta, Central Java and Banten This Afternoon

JAKARTA – PDI Perjuangan ( PDIP ) reportedly will announce gubernatorial candidates for the Jakarta, Central Java and Banten Pilkada. The announcement is planned to be made this afternoon.

PDIP DPP Chairman Djarot Saiful Hidayat asked the public to wait for the announcement on Monday (26/8/2024) afternoon. “Wait for the announcement this afternoon,” said Djarotn when confirmed, Monday (26/8/2024).

Previously, PDIP would announce the names that would be supported for the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Election contestation including in DKI Jakarta, in the near future. This was done after the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling which lowered the threshold for regional head nominations.

Chairman of the PDIP DPP for Honorary Affairs of the PDIP Party Komarudin Watubun revealed that his party will soon announce the names of those nominated in Jakarta. Moreover, the candidate registration period is getting closer.

“Yes, maybe the end of this week, the 23rd-24th, is the last wave. For decisions on recommendations to the regions. There must be a coalition,” said Komaruddin in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

“But with this Constitutional Court decision, it gives space for all candidates to have a chance. Just look at the percentage. There is still a percentage. But the percentage is lighter,” he continued.

Meanwhile, PDIP officially nominated Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party Airin Rachmi Diany as a gubernatorial candidate (cagub) in the 2024 Banten Gubernatorial Election.

Airin was paired with the Chairman of the Banten PDIP DPD Ade Sumardi. The declaration was made at ICE BSD, South Tangerang, Sunday, August 25, 2024.

PDIP DPP Chairman Ahmad Basarah said that the support given to the Airin-Ade pair had been going on for approximately 2 months.

“Alhamdulillah, since June 7, 2024, I have communicated a lot with the Chairperson of the Golkar DPD (Banten) Mrs. Tatu (Tatu Chasanah), to explore this political cooperation. Almost 2 months and 17 days to discuss the opportunities for cooperation,” said Basarah.

“That I, together with Mrs. Ribka Tjiptaning, proposed political cooperation with the Golkar Party in the Banten gubernatorial election to nominate Airin-Ade as the gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial candidates for Banten province,” he continued.
