Hurricane Beryl, which last night evolved into a category 5, the most critical of the Saffir-Simpson scale, continues to advance through the eastern Caribbean and heads towards the coasts of Mexico with winds already exceeding 250 kilometers per hour.

The cyclone has Civil Protection authorities and meteorologists on alert due to the impact it could have once it makes landfall on the Yucatan Peninsula.where it is expected to be downgraded to Category 1 or 2 later this week.

According to forecasts, Beryl would enter Mexico south of Tulum, in Quintana Roo, and then enter Yucatan through Ichmul.a state where it would cover 19 municipalities, according to the real-time forecast of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) from the United States.
