Attempts of attack, vandalism and looting were found in the residence of a day laborer named Shahidul Islam in Rajapur of Jhalkathi.
The incident took place in West Badurtala village on Friday (February 16) afternoon. In this incident, 9 people including a school girl were injured on both sides.
The injured are daily laborer Shahidul Islam (55), his wife Kamla Begum (45), son Shafiqul Islam (20) and Kanika Akhtar (14), a class 10 student of Rajapur Model Pilot High School.
Besides, Hazrat Ali’s son Asadul (40), Shafiz Uddin’s son Siddique (40), his wife Amena Begum (35) and Fatima (30) are on the other side.
Injured day laborer Shahidul Islam told Jago News that he had bought one percent of the land from the local Shahjahan and when he went to cut the soil, his opponent Asadul stopped him. At one stage of the argument, 10-15 people including Asadul, Siddiq, his wife Amena Begum, Fatima, Shahadat, Zainal, his son Russell, Nasir and his wife Nasima attacked and vandalized his residence. He also said that apart from beating them, various goods including money and gold rings were looted.
However, denying the allegations, Asadul and Siddique claimed that three percent of the land was purchased together. The dresses went to cut the soil without distributing them among the three. At that time, Asadul was thrown into the drain and beaten. They claimed that Siddique, Amena and Fatima were also beaten up when they tried to release him. They denied the allegations of residential attack, vandalism and looting.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajapur Police Station Ataur Rahman told Jago News that police were sent to the scene after receiving information. The matter will be investigated and necessary legal action will be taken.
