Discovering rare Indochinese pig badgers on Bach Ma mountain

A rare Indochinese pig badger has just appeared on the Bach Ma peak area (Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province), recorded by Bach Ma National Park staff.

On March 19, Mr. Nguyen Vu Linh, Director of Bach Ma National Park (Thua Thien Hue), said that a rare Indochinese pig badger was recently discovered at the Bach Ma post office area (formerly), section km19 road to Bach Ma peak.

Previously, Bach Ma National Park staff also discovered another badger in the forest of Bach Ma, about 2km from the above location.

Indochinese badger (scientific name Arctonyx collaris dictator), a subspecies of badger (Arctonyx collaris), distributed in eastern Nepal, Bhutan, India, eastern and southern China, Myanmar, Thailand Lan, Laos, Vietnam.

In Vietnam, the Indochinese pig badger (in the Tay language called luong mu), is also known by a number of other names, such as: wild weasel, bower, pig bear.

According to Mr. Linh, over a long period of time, illegal hunting has led to a decline in badger numbers, so the International Union for Conservation of Nature classified this species as threatened in the IUCN Red List in 2008.

Also at Bach Ma National Park, two French tourists recently took pictures of two endangered Truong Son species.

Or a flock of 6 white pheasants was recorded by staff after the flock appeared at Vong Hai Dai.

The fact that recently in the Bach Ma mountain area, many rare and endangered animals have continuously appeared shows that the work of rescuing and preserving animals has been done well.
