State support for agricultural workers and farmers is expanding. In Azerbaijan, it is now possible to insure agricultural animals through the agricultural insurance mechanism.

From the public relations service of the Agrarian Insurance Fund Publika.azwas told that agrarian insurance protects animals from numerous risks – infectious diseases, natural disasters, poisoning, snake and insect bites, attacks by wild animals and actions of third parties. Besides, poisoning of animals from chemical substances during veterinary care, accident during transportation by car, being hit by a car, electrocution, even theft and robbery cases are also covered by agrarian insurance.
If the animals die or are forced to be slaughtered as a result of these circumstances, insurance payments are made to farmers in accordance with the relevant regulations.
Large payments are made by the Agrarian Insurance Fund to farmers whose animals have perished. Thus, in 2022, 710,000 manats were paid to farmers and farms for animal insurance, and in 2023, 910,000 manats were paid.
According to the legislation, insurance rates for insuring agricultural animals range from 5.2 to 8.2 percent. The main feature of the animal insurance provided by the Agrarian Insurance Fund is that it is affordable. In order to support farmers, the government pays 50 percent of the animal insurance fee, as a result, farmers can insure their animals for a small fee. Thus, depending on the envelope chosen, the insurance of cattle worth 1000 manats costs a farmer only 26-41 manats, the insurance of an animal worth 2000 manats costs 52-82 manats, and the insurance of cattle worth 5000 manats costs 130-205 manats.
The insurance fee for small-horned animals is smaller – the insurance of a 300-manat sheep or goat costs the owner 8-12 manats, and the insurance of a 500-manat animal costs 13-20 manats.
The main requirements for insurance are that the animal is hairless and vaccinated, it is registered with EKTIS and the creation of appropriate conditions in the farm.
