The president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, was attacked this Saturday during an official activity in the Chiara district, in the Ayacucho department.
The attack occurred as the president threw candy to those present as a reward for the inauguration of a highway.
A woman approached Boluarte stealthily with another person, managing to go unnoticed by the security teams, and pulled her by the hair.
The attacker was identified as Ruth Bárcena Loayza, president of the Association of Victims and Injured of December 15, 2022 in Ayacucho and a relative of one of those killed in the anti-government protests.
At the time of the attack, shouts of “murderer” were heard.
Bárcena Loayza lost her husband, Leonardo David Hancco Chacca, a transporter who was wounded by a gunshot to the chest during the Ayacucho march on December 16, 2022 and died at the age of 32 the next day after a hemorrhage internal, kidney, liver and pancreas destroyed.
The woman was left alone with her 7-year-old daughter.
“Here in Ayacucho there were no police officers, no soldiers injured or killed; Rather, it was civilians who were killed and many of them injured,” Bárcena Loayza said in an interview in June last year.
