Dimitri Van den Bergh has qualified for the last 32 of the German Darts Grand Prix (205,000 euros) in Munich with a victory against the German Gabriel Clemens.

Van den Bergh (PDC 10) put aside home favorite Gabriel Clemens (PDC 22) 6-5 in a high-quality match, in which he initially threw an average of more than 106 per three darts. The Antwerp native broke through Clemens’ darts in the fifth leg, but he immediately broke back and tied the score with an 11-darter. The German, who was getting better and better in the match, was able to win a decisive leg. Stress seemed to take over. Both players missed a number of double chances, but Van den Bergh saved double four for a place in the second round. He will compete against Englishman Dave Chisnall (PDC 7).

Van den Bergh threw an average of 100.69 per three darts compared to 91.78 for Clemens, who with a check out average of 41.7% did better than Van den Bergh (30%).

In the match between Mike De Decker (PDC 39) and the Scot Cameron Menzies (PDC 52), the score was still 2-2 after four legs. But with, among other things, a 124 check-out, an 11-darter and a 10-darter, Menzies proved to be the better 6-4.
