DIF Torreón carries out brigade to care for elderly packers

As part of the actions to care for the health of the members of the Adult in Plenitude (AMEP) program, the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) Torreón, in collaboration with the DIF Coahuila, carried out a preventive podiatry brigade for the volunteer packers.

The activity took place at the Ciudad DIF facilities on June 24 and 26, where a total of 60 seniors received personalized attention from participating professionals.

Marlene Martínez Valdés, general director of DIF Torreón, said that in the current Municipal Administration, the organization implements these actions for the health care of older adults, with a preventive approach.

“It is important that our adults are checked frequently, especially regarding their feet, as this ensures that any abnormality receives prompt attention and complications are avoided,” said the official.

In addition to the podiatric check-up, attendees had the opportunity to attend various awareness talks on the prevention of foot problems, which were given by experts in the field, seeking to educate and raise awareness among older adults about the importance of caring for their extremities.

The official said that podiatric care was provided with the support of specialists from the Torreón Podiatric Institute, who were in charge of examining everything from an ingrown toenail to a spot, to any other discomfort that each of the attendees might have, and that follow-up will be given to cases that require it, thus ensuring complete care.

Martínez Valdés stressed that this type of brigade not only benefits older adults physically, but also provides them with peace of mind and emotional well-being knowing that they are being cared for by professionals.
