Diesel prices for foreigners proposed to change in Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan proposed changing prices for gasoline and diesel fuel for foreigners, Liter.kz reports.

The department published the corresponding draft order. According to the document, it suggests installing:

  • the price of gasoline of the AI-92 and AI-93 brands for foreigners is 245 tenge per liter;
  • upon presentation of a driver’s license of the Republic of Kazakhstan in a volume of up to 100 liters per day – 205 tenge per liter;
  • upon presentation of a driver’s license and vehicle registration certificate issued in the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the amount of up to 300 liters per day – 205 tenge per liter;
  • the price of diesel fuel for foreigners is 315 tenge per liter;
  • upon presentation of a driver’s license of the Republic of Kazakhstan in a volume of up to 100 liters per day – 295 tenge per liter;
  • upon presentation of a driver’s license and vehicle registration certificate issued in the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the amount of up to 300 liters per day – 295 tenge per liter.

The Ministry of Energy explained that this is necessary to maintain the fuel balance in the domestic market, as well as to minimize the risks of flows and “gray” exports of petroleum products.

Let us recall that in 2022, differentiated tariffs for diesel were introduced in Kazakhstan. The maximum price for summer diesel fuel for foreigners is 450 tenge, for citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan – 295 tenge. Then the standard was introduced due to the high demand for fuel from foreign drivers. In February, the authorities were thinking about establishing uniform prices for diesel fuel for citizens of the republic and foreigners. But apparently they changed their minds.
