Order for the construction of two Kamsarmax dual-fuel methanol bulk carriers has been placed by Diana Shipping, as announced yesterday. The value of each order amounts to 46 million dollars and will be built at Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding Inc. shipyards. in China. The vessels are expected to be delivered to the company in the second half of 2027 and the first half of 2028, respectively. Ships can run alternately on either methanol or fuel oil. When fueled with green methanol, the ships are designed to produce almost zero greenhouse gas emissions based on the well-to-wake (WTW) fuel life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology.
