DIAN lifts contingency and extends deadline for income tax returns

The National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) has announced that, following an evaluation of the stability and correct functioning of its services, the contingency established by article 579-2 of the Tax Statute has been lifted.

This measure, which had been decreed on August 12 due to technical problems, is suspended as of August 16, 2024.

With the lifting of the contingency, taxpayers whose deadline to file returns and pay taxes was between August 12 and 16 now have until on August 20 to comply with its obligations without incurring sanctions nor interest.

Taxpayers with due dates after August 16 should follow the dates established in the tax calendar.

It is worth mentioning that the DIAN will continue to provide attention through all its channels, including on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, to assist citizens in fulfilling their tax obligations.
