Dharma Pongrekun’s Wealth, Independent Candidate for Jakarta Governor

JAKARTA – Dharma Pongrekun declared to have met the requirements as a prospective independent gubernatorial candidate in the 2024 Jakarta Regional Head Election or Pilkada. Dharma was confirmed to have passed after the DKI Jakarta KPU held a plenary meeting to verify the factual requirements for minimum support for the nomination on Thursday (15/8/2024).

Based on the provisions of Article 41 of Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning Regional Elections, to qualify for the Jakarta Regional Election through the independent route, a minimum of 618,998 Jakarta residents spread across at least four cities/regencies in Jakarta are required. Meanwhile, Dharma and his deputy gubernatorial candidate Kun Wardana were declared successful in recording the support of 677,468 Jakarta residents.

Dharma was born on January 12, 1966 in Palu, Central Sulawesi. He is a retired police officer. His last position was as the Main Policy Analyst for Jianbang Lemdiklat Polri. The last rank of this Toraja-blooded man was Commissioner General of Police or equivalent to a three-star general.

Dharma started his education at SMP Bruderan Purwokerto in 1981 and SMAN 34 Jakarta in 1984. He then continued his education at AKABRI A at the Police Academy and graduated in 1988, then took a master’s degree in management at the Bhayangkara University of Jakarta Raya and graduated in 2002.

Not stopping there, Dahrama then continued his master’s degree in law at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) until graduating in 2006. Finally, he received an honorary doctorate in humanity from MBC University Depok in 2023.

Before retiring, he had held a number of high positions, such as being the deputy head of BSSN from 2019 to 2021. He has also served as the Deputy for Identification and Detection of BSSN since May 2018.

In addition, he served as Karorenmin Bareskrim Polri and Dirtipnarkoba Bareskrim Polri in 2016. Most recently, Dharma was transferred as a High-ranking Officer of the Indonesian Police Education and Training Institute, aka Pati Lemdiklat, on January 24, 2024. He was transferred together with seven Polri generals who were also entering retirement.

Dharma Pongrekun also caused a stir on social media. In a broadcast, he said that the Covid-19 pandemic had been planned since 2010 by the Rockefeller Foundation and simulated in 2012.
