Archer Roman Sana has not performed well in recent times. He was not able to cope with the youngsters in the domestic competitions. He was also not included in the Bangladesh team that participated in the Asian Archery Competition held in Iraq last year. This is because of poor performance. Roman Sana finally lost himself and retired from the national team.
He sent a letter to Bangladesh Archery Federation saying that he will not play in the national team. General Secretary of the Federation Kazi Rajeev Uddin Ahmed Chopal told Jago News, “Roman Sana announced his retirement citing personal reasons.”
Bangladesh rose to the top of the world archery with the help of Roman Sana. Roman won bronze at the 2019 World Archery Championships. Besides, he was the first player of Bangladesh to directly qualify for the Olympics.
Just as Roman brightened the face of Bangladesh with his great skills, he also tarnished his stardom by being involved in women’s scandals.
In 2022, Roman misbehaved with a female archer. As a result, Bangladesh Archery Federation banned him for two years. However, before the expiry of the period, the apex body of domestic archery lifted the ban.
After returning to the national team after overcoming the ban, Roman did not see himself as a known person. He could not cope with the youth in any domestic and international game. Finally Roman decided to retire out of frustration.
