Employees who work in the formal labor market, have signed a labor contract, and participate in mandatory social insurance will pay health insurance according to their monthly salary as a basis for social insurance payment.
Specifically, based on Article 1 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP, employees in the following cases are required to participate in health insurance:
– Employees working under an indefinite-term labor contract or a labor contract with a term of 3 months or more.
– Officials and civil servants.
– Persons working part-time in communes, wards and towns according to the provisions of Law.
Pursuant to the provisions of Point a, Clause 1, Article 7 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP, every month, employees work under indefinite-term labor contracts or labor contracts with a term of 3 months or more. Months or more contribute 4.5% of the monthly salary to the health insurance fund according to regulations, of which the employer contributes 3%, and the employee pays 1.5%.
Therefore, the health insurance premium of this group depends on the monthly salary as the basis for social insurance payment, and only changes when the monthly salary as the basis for social insurance payment changes.
Household health insurance premiums
Based on Article 7 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP, the monthly health insurance payment of household health insurance participants is prescribed as follows: “The first person pays 4.5% of the base salary; the first person pays 4.5% of the base salary; The second, third, and fourth pay respectively 70%, 60%, and 50% of the first person’s payment; from the fifth person onwards, pay 40% of the first person’s payment.
