A 68-year-old man shot and killed his neighbor early Christmas morning after an argument over the use of fireworks. The incident occurred in a monoblock located on 609th Street between 3rd and 4th, in La Plata, where the aggressor, identified as JCM, fired several shots from the window of his apartment towards a group of people. One of the shots hit Daniel Néstor Rubén Ramírez, 45, who died at the scene.

Police sources indicated to Infobae that the authorities became aware of the incident after a radio alert received by the Patrol Command personnel, which warned of the presence of a gunshot wound in the housing complex.

Upon arriving at the scene, the agents observed several neighbors gathered and found Ramírez’s lifeless body on the landing of a staircase, with gunshot wounds to the neck and left shoulder.

According to testimonies collected at the scene, the conflict began when the victim’s children were using fireworks and the now detained man reacted by shooting from inside his home.

The officers entered the indicated apartment, whose door remained ajar, and observed the accused resting a weapon on a table. At that moment, the agents managed to subdue him and proceed to arrest him.

During the raid, they seized a Bersa Thunder 40 PRO 40 caliber pistol, used in the incident, along with a special reinforced 20 caliber shotgun, a 5 mm caliber compressed air rifle and several different types of ammunition. None of the weapons presented a request for kidnapping, according to police sources.

The prosecutor on duty, Patricio Barraza, was present at the scene along with the homicide office of the Departmental Directorate of Investigations (DDI) La Plata to coordinate the judicial and expert actions. The place was preserved for the work of experts, while the presence of medical personnel and the morgue were requested to transport the victim’s body.

After the homicide, a group of neighbors set fire to the Peugeot 504 owned by the accused in retaliation for the attack. The situation generated tension in the neighborhood, where a police operation was deployed to prevent new incidents.

In the procedure, the uniformed officers also seized two ammunition with a truncated conical tip, one ammunition with a blue Teflon tip, one 40 caliber ammunition with a conical tip and a gun holster.

For his part, the detainee was transferred to the police station, where he was placed at the disposal of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) No. 6 of La Plata, accused of homicide.

The victim, Daniel Néstor Rubén Ramírez, lived in the same housing complex and was identified by family and neighbors who witnessed the attack.

The case of the retiree who killed his neighbor at Christmas 2024
On Christmas 2024, Rafael Horacio Moreno (75), a former Federal police officer, killed his neighbor Sergio David Díaz (40) because he had the music volume too loud.

The event occurred when the retiree left his house and crossed 4100 Acevedo Street, in the Buenos Aires town of Lomas del Mirador, to complain to his neighbor about the sounds of his celebration.

After a brief but violent argument between the two, the retiree took out his gun and shot him in the abdomen at point-blank range. The sequence of the fight was recorded by witnesses and was widely disseminated. “We are going to end badly,” the murderer told his neighbor.

The victim was immediately taken to the nearest health center, but died shortly after admission due to the severity of his injuries. The Buenos Aires Police arrived at the scene after a call to 911. There they detained Moreno, who remained at the scene after the incident, and seized the weapon used.

In November 2025, a popular jury found the former police officer responsible for the crimes of manslaughter and illegal possession of a weapon of war. The technical judge Lucila Pacheco, belonging to the Criminal Court No. 2 of La Matanza, was the one who presided over the process, while the prosecution was led by the prosecutor Sergio Antín and the defense was assumed by Francisco Oneto, renowned lawyer and representative, among several, of President Javier Milei.
