Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the progress of development projects in Shopian

Shopian Shopian, Highlighting the historical importance of Shopian district, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary today directed to work fast on development projects, in which special attention will be given to connectivity and horticulture areas. The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking during a review meeting organized to assess the progress of various development projects and schemes being implemented in the district at Mini Secretariat Shopian here. The meeting was attended by Vachi MLA Shaukat Hussain Gani and Shopian MLA Shabir Kulle and Chief and regional officials of various departments attended. Shishir Gupta, Deputy Commissioner of Shopian, presented a detailed description of the development scenario and ongoing works in the district. Reviewing the status of the projects of Public Works Department (PWD), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Road and Building (R&B) Department, JJM and others, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining high quality standards and following the project deadline, expressing concern over delays in some tasks. He directed the officers to prioritize pending projects and complete them soon.
The Deputy Chief Minister outlined the importance of timely and quality implementation of infrastructure projects. He directed the officials to strictly follow the technical specifications and safety standards. He also emphasized the need for sustainable construction practices to benefit the people of the district long term. He asked the authorities to accelerate developmental initiatives and increase the public service distribution mechanism. He emphasized the importance of being accessible to the public to ensure effective implementation of government initiatives. The Deputy Chief Minister said, “We are committed to accelerating the development process across the district and improving infrastructure. The suggestions and feedbacks of elected representatives should also be taken into consideration while preparing the schemes to include local needs and demands.”
The Deputy Chief Minister called upon the officials to regularly monitor and evaluate all the ongoing tasks to ensure transparency and accountability, if any, if any, assuring the government’s full support in resolving the challenges. Expressing concern over delay in some tasks, the Deputy Chief Minister carefully emphasized the importance of planning and execution. He emphasized the need to work with more dedication to complete all ongoing tasks with quickness and quality. The Deputy Chief Minister gave a detailed details of the ongoing works on progress, and stressed the need to maintain high quality standards at all stages of project execution. He instructed the authorities to ensure tight adherence to the time-limit as well as to remove any obstacles obstructing the projects in time.
During the meeting, the authorities provided updated information about the progress of various projects and highlighted the challenges including lack of funding, land acquisition issues and technical difficulties. The legislators highlighted the issues of public importance related to their respective areas. The issues include expansion of roads under PMGSY and other developmental activities in Jainapora and Shopian under PMGSY, cardiologist in district hospital Shopian, beautification of Shopian city, land compensation and other cases under bypass road construction. Later, the Deputy Chief Minister inspected the speed of the functions of the Trend Bridge being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 39.41 crore.
