deputies address the priorities of the legislative agenda

This Wednesday, the Minister of Labor, Jeannette Jara, attended the Senate Labor Commission, the body that began the debate on the pension reform project, which is part of the legislative priorities during the so-called second term of the government.

In conversation with El Mostrador, deputies Jorge Guzmán (Evópoli) and Jaime Naranjo (PS) addressed the complexities that the negotiation will face and the aspirations for a spirit of agreement to prevail in the Upper House.

“In this pension reform, the burden of proof, as the lawyers say, is on the government. “The government is the one that must have the capacity to convene and represent the vast majority of experts who have made their proposals on how to address a reform that does resolve the problems that Chileans are experiencing,” said Guzmán.

For his part, the PS parliamentarian indicated that the percentage of how the 6% additional contribution is distributed “does not matter, the most important thing is to create the solidarity fund that will allow us now, and not in the year 2070, to be able to improve the pensions of current retirees and those to come. In that aspect I would expect greater flexibility.”
