The French right-wing legislator Marine Le Pensaid in an interview with CNN that a prime minister from his National Rally party would prevent Kiev use long-range weapons supplied by France to attack Russian territory and hinder the sending of troops in Ukraine.

“If Emmanuel Macron wants to send troops to Ukraine and the prime minister is against it, then no troops will be sent to Ukraine,” he said. “The prime minister has the final say.”he recalled.

Her party’s position has often been at odds with the EU’s official stance against maintaining contacts with Moscow. Le Pen has repeatedly called for talks with Russia to try to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, saying that kyiv is not in a position to win.

The head of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, said in June that if he comes to power after the parliamentary elections, he would continue to honour the country’s international defence commitments, but would not send long-range missiles to Ukraine.

On 9 June, Macron announced the dissolution of the National Assembly and called for early legislative elections in response to the landslide victory of the National Rally in the European Parliament elections.
