WASHINGTON – Stacey Plaskett, the Democratic delegate from the Virgin Islands in the United States House of Representatives, found herself in the spotlight during a live broadcast on MSNBC. In what seemed to be a slip of the tongue, she made a controversial statement suggesting that former US President Donald Trump “should be shot” while discussing his handling of classified documents.

Plaskett expressed her concerns about Trump having access to classified information and the potential risks associated with it. She quickly corrected herself, stating that he should be “stopped.” The similarity between the words “shot” and “stopped” in the English language led to the misphrasing of her statement. However, her remarks sparked a wave of criticism.

“I HAVE TO REMOVE HER!”

The video of Plaskett’s statement went viral on social media, with many users taking her comment literally and calling for her dismissal. Conservative broadcaster Steve Guest highlighted the double standard, questioning the reaction if a Republican had made a similar statement. WorldStrat Corporation Chairman Jim Hanson suggested that her slip of the tongue revealed her true thoughts. Another user demanded her immediate removal from Congress.

Plaskett has been a vocal opponent of Trump, serving as an impeachment manager during his second impeachment trial related to the Capitol assault on January 6, 2021. Despite her efforts, Trump was acquitted. Her controversial statement adds to the ongoing tension between the two political factions.

CHARGES AGAINST TRUMP

Last week, the former president was indicted in federal court in Miami on 37 counts for allegedly withholding classified material at his Mar-a-Lago residence and refusing to cooperate with the FBI and the Justice Department. This marks the second time Trump has faced criminal charges this year. He maintains his innocence and claims that the accusations are politically motivated.

However, these charges do not hinder Trump’s campaign for the upcoming 2024 presidential election, as he continues to rally his supporters.
