Demand for Sour Water Increased in Erzincan

The demand for mineral water produced in Erzincan, called “sour water” in the region, has increased due to the high temperatures.

The consumption of Ekşisu Erzincan Bögert Natural Mineral Water, which was produced by Erzincan Municipality in 1932 and sent to surrounding provinces, has increased due to the increasing air temperature.

Ekşisu Erzincan Bögert Natural Mineral Water, which originates from the Ekşisu Picnic Area, 14 kilometers away from the city center, started to be produced again after a 5-year break.

The factory started working in two shifts due to high demand and increased its daily production from 100 thousand to 250 thousand bottles.

“Sour water”, which facilitates digestion and quickly eliminates mineral and salt loss, is sent abroad as well as to various cities in the country in the “plain”, “lemon”, “apple” and “pomegranate” varieties.

Sodas are exported

Erzincan Bögert Mineral Water Factory Manager Kenan Çeribaşı told AA correspondent that they received high demand for mineral water with the increasing temperatures.

Stating that they sometimes have difficulty meeting the incoming demand, Çeribaşı said that sales peak during the summer season.

“Despite our constant stocking, we still have difficulty meeting demand. We have expanded our marketing network both domestically and abroad. We are providing service to Erzincan and abroad with our new products,” said Çeribaşı, adding that they are making an effort to deliver this special drink of Erzincan to the citizens.

Stating that they have determined new export routes, Çeribaşı continued as follows:

“We first started with lemons, then apples and pomegranates were added to our products. If all goes well, we will have added tangerines to our product range by the end of August. We are currently working with Arabia and Switzerland abroad. Our negotiations with countries such as Germany, Jordan, Libya and Dubai are ongoing. We will be starting our shipments to these countries very soon.”

Mineral water meets the body’s mineral needs

Çeribaşı, who also touched upon the importance of mineral water in terms of health, noted the following:

“A person who drinks 2 bottles of Erzincan Bögert Mineral Water a day meets his daily mineral needs from here. Magnesium in particular is a very important mineral for muscle structure and eliminating body pain. This mineral is consumed a lot especially in the summer because it supports muscle structure. We strongly recommend the lemon mineral water we produce to people because it is a source of vitamin C in addition to the minerals it contains.”

They also come to Ekşisu Recreation Area for natural mineral water.

Citizens who come to the Ekşisu Recreation Area in the region where the factory is located also get natural mineral water flowing from the fountains.

One of the visitors, Yusuf Mermer, stated that mineral water is important for human health and said, “We come here especially in the summer months and Ramadan because it is a source of healing. In the summer months, especially with the excessive sweating of the body, there is water loss. The mineral water coming out here meets the body’s need for lost minerals.”

Emsal Gençalp, who came from Istanbul, said that “sour water” is one of the indispensable places and that this place has a special importance for Erzincan.
