The exhibition is made up of several works painted using the analog photographic printing technique such as “cyanotype” or “platinum” installation and cardboard techniques.
In this inaugural exhibition, the Angolan artist and archivist shows how papers and images still have so much to say about Angola.
According to Délio Jasse, the “Olhar do Outro” exhibition is a reinterpretation of the symbolic value of papers and images from the colonial era in Angola.
According to the artist, the exhibition portrays the visual dialogue between memory and photography, a permanent tension between our colonial past and today.
In turn, the curator and head of the Jahmek Contemporary Art gallery, Mehak Vieira, praised the exhibition and highlighted, in part, the peculiar aspect with which the artist portrays his works.
Born in Luanda, Délio Jasse, lives between Lisbon and Milan, Délio Jasse is one of the best-known Angolan artists internationally for combining techniques and discourses in his works.
Over the last 15 years, he has participated in numerous individual and group exhibitions in Angola, South Africa, Mali, Italy, England, Germany, Portugal, Spain, France, China, Brazil and the United States.
